Easter Bunny Pops!
Is this shame that I feel right now? Is that what happens when I delve into the cutesy territory too often? Yeah. That’s it. But you know what? I’m an equal opportunity recipe developer. I know that these are just going to tickle some of you pink. And I love you for that ;)
Make as many different funny faces as you can with these bunnies, then share your results with me. I want to see your smiles!
Makes 10-12
Ingredients
12 Rice Krispie Treats (~2.5”x1.75” each), use store-bought or homemade fruity versions (recipe below)
1 pound White Candy Melts
½ cup Shortening?
24 Large Chocolate Nonpareils
12 Pink Jellybeans
12 mini Marshmallows
6 Jumbo Marshmallows
~¼ cup Pink Sprinkles
24 Chocolate Chips
12 Lollipop or Popsicle Sticks
Instructions
Melt candymelt with shortening in microwave or over double boiler. When smooth and loose, pour into pint glass or tall container (with a wide enough mouth to allow for the rice krispie treats).
Prepare bunny ears: Place sprinkles in bowl or small dish. Slice jumbo marshmallows in half on the diagonal, lengthwise. Press the cut sides (sticky and exposed) into pink sprinkles. Set aside.
Dip lollipop or popsicle sticks in melted candymelt, then press into the end of each rice krispie treat (portrait mode 😂). Set treats with sticks on parchment-lined baking sheet and allow to cool for a few minutes (this will help keep the stick in place while dipping).
Dip treats into candymelt by holding stick and pressing into container. Pull treat out of candymelt and spin slightly to remove excess candy coating. Scrape back side of treat against side of container to remove even more. Place back on parchment lined baking sheet.
Press bunny ears into the top of each treat, making sure they’re stuck in the candymelt.
Place two nonpareils onto the face of each treat, these will be the bunny’s cheeks.
Place one pink jellybean above the nonpareils on each treat, this is the nose.
Press two chocolate chips into place as eyes on each treat.
Press one mini marshmallow into place below and between the nonpareils on each treat, this will be the bunny’s buck teeth.
Allow treats to set completely on parchment lined tray before serving. At least one hour. Refrigerate for faster results.
