Lemon Lime Syrup
Simple syrup isn't rocket science. Quite literally, in fact. When you mix equal parts water and sugar, you have a perfect solution for carrying flavors of all sorts. Boil a few vanilla beans or some sliced ginger in the mixture and you'll be set for cocktails and soda alike. Because lemon juice is nearly 90% water I like to make my citrus syrup with a one-to-one blend of citrus juice and sugar. If you're using orange juice you can drop the sugar content down a bit, the natural sweetness will shine through.
